Go against the wind and grow towards the sun
2020, the first year of 20s and the decisive year for the battle against poverty, is destined to be an extraordinary year. The fastest spreading of 2019 novel coronavirus, the lockdown of cities and villages from Wuhan to the whole country, and the masks on the streets and alleys make the bells of the spring new year particularly heavy. New Year's greetings were replaced by news broadcasts, visiting relatives and friends became stay-at-home behavior, and the ups and downs of numbers affected 1.4 billion Chinese.
We deplored the deceased, pleased for the cured, and saluted the heroes in harm’s way.
I saw the medical workers who ignored their personal safety and left their young children and elderly parents. Among them, there are 80-year-old academicians and college students. Facing this epidemic, without hesitation, they volunteered to the most dangerous place and promised to the country and people—"if a war befalls, we are ready to fight when the call comes unless victory is sure”. The virus goes from Wuhan to the whole country, while love and hope from the whole country to Wuhan. They rushed to the battlefield where there was no smoke, and defended a healthy bastion used their ordinary bodies for the 1.4 billion Chinese people!
I saw construction workers who raced against time and worked hard overtime. How long does it take to build a hospital        Ten days. This is called China Speed. Behind this miracle of infrastructure is the research and discussion of countless experts, and 24-hour work of countless ordinary workers. They worked day and night without complaining, which witnessed the unanimous strength of the Chinese!
I saw united domestic and foreign volunteers, glowing in their respective positions. Some of them urgently renovated the factory to produce masks, protective clothing, etc., some applied for community workers to go from house to house for inspection, some sent all their savings to Wuhan without their name, and some volunteered to donate all the vegetables they planted to the epidemic-stricken area... I can’t remember everyone’s name and appearances, but I know what they look like is what China looks like!
I saw responsible spiritual gardeners who practiced where there is education, there is love. Our teacher, although unable to protect our life and safety in battlefield, but guards our growth in another way in the all-out people’s war--caring about our physical and mental conditions and holiday trends, promoting epidemic prevention and control knowledge to us and our families, and constantly innovating and adjusting the way of online teaching, makes us feel the temperature of education and guide us to grow actively!
I saw General Secretary Xi Jinping personally taking charge and planning our response, putting the health and safety of our people before everything else, scientists and researchers joining forces to find a cure, policemen, deliverymen, sanitation workers, and all who make and transport emergency supplies continuing their work with dedication, Wuhan and Hubei people carrying on with fortitude and resilience, people from all sectors of society and our fellow compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and overseas making generous donations, both monetary and in-kind… Through all these efforts, we have built a Great Wall of solidarity against the epidemic.
As high school students in the new era, we enjoy the great glory of the country, so what can we do in this all-out people’s war
First, we should obey the command. As General Secretary Xi Jinping mentioned, encouraging initiative from all sectors with concentrated efforts for big and key projects, all for the purpose of achieving the fundamental goals for national development, which is a great strength of system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and a strong guarantee for the country to win the war against the novel coronavirus. We should resolutely obey the arrangements for the deployment of community street schools, etc., let the work be done as soon as possible, and the ones that are not allowed to be resolutely not to be done, and do so after being unclearly asked to gather strong synergy to fight the epidemic.
Second, we should plan the learning. The student’s job is to learn. Although the sudden outbreak has changed our learning style, we should also actively adjust to adapt, combine the pre-review, listening and review, formulate a learning plan, improve learning efficiency, to avoiding disadvantages of learning due to the outbreak.
Third, we should promote and guide. Within the scope of ensuring our own safety and the permission of the community, we can use our free time to do some promoting some knowledge about epidemic prevention and control, such as using facemasks properly, minimizing outings, keeping hands clean, carrying health monitoring, maintaining good hygiene and health habits, no touching, buying and eating of wild animals, etc., to contribute our meager strength.
When the sun shines across the country in early spring, we finally see the long-awaited gradually decreasing number! As a developing country with 1.4 billion people, it is by overcoming enormous difficulties that China has been able to contain covid-19 in such a short time while also ensuring our people’s basic needs. Our success has come at a great price. At the same time, the covid-19 epidemic spread fast in other countries, China has actively engaged in international cooperation, providing timely information, actively sharing prevention technologies and practices, and helping other countries with their response efforts with an open, transparent, and responsible attitude. This is the action of a responsible country!
No winter will not pass, no spring will not come. Although the haze has not completely cleared, we still have to resolutely?cut?off?the?spread?of?the?virus, with the concerted efforts of the whole country, the domestic epidemic has gradually been brought under control, and the economy hit by the epidemic has also slowly recovered. The government has issued a number of policies to encourage economic development, the domestic situation is moving steadily in a positive direction.
I believe that we will be able to make it through this challenging time. The horizons for China’s development are full of promise. Our motherland will definitely see the sunshine behind the fog!
In the summer evening, I walked at the street, with wind blowing on my cheeks, listening to the endless barking on the streets, chatting with strangers in front of the street-stalls, closing my eyes to feel disenchanted hustle and bustle of the secular life, and praying that our country flourishes and people live in peace!
