Abstract
This paper takes Modern Family as the research object. It mainly finds the differences from three aspects, including the purpose, methods and contents of Chinese and American family education. It then analyzes the reasons for these differences from economic, historical and cultural aspects, and it finally draws the results and enlightenment. Due to the differences in economy, politics and culture between China and the United States, family education in each country is different. Through the analysis of these reasons, the enlightenment to Chinese family education can be obtained, so as to promote the communication between China and the west and achieve the goal of seeking common ground while putting aside differences.

As the tide of globalization hits, countries are communicating more and more closely with each other. Under the background of economic and political diversification, the differences between Chinese and American families and their causes are attracting increasing attention from people all over the world. Since the Chinese people have attached importance to education, many Chinese educators have analyzed some literature reviews on American educational theories, published their opinions on them, and converted them into educational theories that can be generally understood by the Chinese according to China’s national conditions. The Modern Family is one of the objects analyzed. Based on the existing research, this paper analyzes it again in order to make some progress, discusses the differences between Chinese and American family education and the reasons, and finally draws a conclusion and research significance. By comparing different aspects of Chinese and American family education, we can sum up a series of experiences and inject new contents into Chinese education. Including in the process of educating children, parents should cultivate their children’s sense of independence and do their own things from an early age. Parents should learn to establish a more equal parent-child relationship with their children. Of course, it is most important to cultivate children’s confidence and sense of responsibility. Not only that, parents should also pay attention to the improvement of their own quality, keep pace with the times, break the traditional shackles. Parents must be clearly aware that education should keep pace with the times so as to better promote the all-round development of children.
It can be said that family, school and society are inseparable. Schools are specialized educational institutions, but there are some disadvantages. Relying solely on the education of schools and teachers, the people cultivated are deficient in character, knowledge and ability structure. Only with the strong support and close cooperation of the family can the school education exert its own advantages and overcome its own limitations. The interests of parents and children coincide. As parents of children, parents are bound to educate and influence their children. Schools do not pay attention to family education and do not give guidance, it may lead to family education and school education resistance. We should try to guide and transform negative factors into positive ones, so that family education and school education in the same direction, we could let the two forces into a rope, mutual cooperation, complementary advantages, so that children get a better education, grow into excellent people.
From the perspective of the students themselves, the things we experience in each age group are different. We have to draw lessons from these practical experiences, continue to grow, and be useful to the society. Therefore, family education plays an important role. The subtle influence on the home environment is enormous. Parents ’ family education for children will play an important role in guiding children ’s future growth and development. Parents should pay attention to cultivate their children’s independence in life so that they can grow up to be independent, free and complete people. In the process of growing up, children will learn different knowledge from various aspects of society to enrich themselves and arm themselves, laying a solid foundation for survival in social life in the future. As students themselves, it is their job to continuously learn knowledge and enhance their abilities. We should be confident in our daily life and study, and learn to treat others more equally, then we will become the new youth of the new era, and make our own contribution to the development of China.
