在学校英语教学一直是一个难题。怎样让学生从课文中吸取到实用的知识运用到解题中去？基础好点的同学自发的或者在教师的督促下背诵课文，但是默写翻译课文的少。这样做的结果是对知识比较熟悉，但是写不出来或者写不正确。基础差的同学不可以完成背诵课文的任务，也不知道怎么去学习，导致与其他学生的差距越来越大。
为了解决这个问题，笔者做了一些尝试。我对课文进行了处理，把课文改成填空题，侧重培养学生的动手能力。设空的地方考查了介词 连词 短语 词性变化等中考高考所考查的内容。只要学生能够完成我的填空题，学生就可以掌握本课的中考高考所考查的知识。一般学生要求会完成填空题。基础好的学生除了完成填空题外，还要完成汉语翻译成英语的任务。这对表达水平的提高与作文能力的培养也有很大帮助。
下面以人教英语九年级unit 9 为例，给大家展示一下。

凄美

6 后来我查阅了《二泉映月》的历史，开始理解音乐中蕴含的伤感。
7 这首曲子是由一位民间音乐家阿炳写成，他于1893年出生在无锡市。
8 仅仅一年后，他的母亲就去世了。
9 阿炳的父亲教他弹奏各种乐器，如鼓、笛子和二胡。到了17岁，阿炳就以他的音乐天赋闻名。
10 然而，他的父亲去世以后，阿炳的生活变得更糟糕。
11他很穷，还得了严重的疾病，眼睛瞎了。
12 好些年他都没有家，
13 他住在大街上，以弹奏音乐来谋生。
14 即使他结了婚有了家以后，他还是继续在街道上唱歌、弹曲，
15 他以这种方式表演了好多年。
