When I was a little kid, I showed a great interest in language learning. I had a passion for learning to speak and I could speak many easy words when I was very young. As a matter of fact, it really made my parents proud of me as I was always praised for the talent at that age. As I started school, although so many courses rushed to me, the only one that attracted me was English.
In primary school, English was my favorite subject. I loved the words, phrases and the beautiful tunes. At that time, English was not only a course but also an attraction for me to shift my attention from toys and games to study. Since junior high, I have spent a lot of time and truly devoted myself in improving my English skills by reading. For several years, reading English has become part of my daily schedule. Newspapers, novels and scientific magazines are all on my list. It is enjoying when I am communicating with the authors through the words. As time goes by, I read more and more books and the real enthusiasm increases. As a result, I have enlarged my practical vocabulary and mastered the grammar knowledge. Surely, from primary to senior high school, my English grade is always great.
I gradually realize that English is simply not a language with grammar items and other linguistic principles, but a human culture that can widen my horizon and give me a different perspective to see the world. It’s amazing that English has greatly influenced the way I think.
After entering the military academy, I have learned a lot. To be honest, science and engineering are difficult to understand and the military training is always tiring. My life is regular and seems to be repeating itself. However, it’s English that provides me opportunities and pleasures. When I was a sophomore, I joined the English club. After I took part in several competitions and won a few prizes, I was promoted to be one of the students in charge. From someone who takes part in the activities to someone who holds the activities, I have got acquainted with many new friends and made great progress in managing a group of people. That is what I have gained from learning English, so I really should make a salute to English.
