        Abstract A new era of resources sharing has been witnessed since the 1980s. The globalization has been increasingly highlighted and even become a basic characteristic of our time. That’s why English has become the compulsory course for most of students in the world, and there is no exception for China. In China, there is no doubt that English is the ticket to further study and career development, which proves that English study is playing an important role. And in the compulsory education, junior school English study is the most important stage for laying a good foundation of further English study. However, the current status of English learning in junior school is not that optimistic. Now there are still many junior school students failing to improve English study effectively. However, listening to and singing English songs is a kind of entertaining learning method that can make junior school students get more fun and become more interested in learning English. Besides, English songs can enliven the learning atmosphere in English classes. So listening to or singing English songs cater to the learning psychology of junior school students. For the language itself, listening to and singing English songs can help students to get good memories on the lyrics so as to build their vocabularies and expressions, to improve their listening and speaking skill, to cultivate the sense of English, to cultivate the language logic of English contributing to the English grammar learning and to accelerate the acquisition the language culture of English. Therefore, the paper attempts to raise people’s awareness on the importance of English songs by illustrating the influences on junior school English learning,so as to promote students’ English learning effect to the largest extend.

        英文歌曲对英语学习的影响


        摘要
        20世纪80年代迎来了一个资源共享的新时代。全球化日益突显,甚至成为了当今时代的基本特征,因此被世界公认为国际语言的英语成为了世界绝大部分国家的一门在校必修课程。然而在国际上有一席之地的中国也不例外。在中国,英语无疑成为了人们升学发展及就业发展的敲门砖。可见,英语学习在当今社会中有着不容小觑的地位。在中国义务教育中,初中英语学习为最重要的扎实基础阶段,但初中生英语学习的现状并不是很乐观。仍然有很多初中生对英语学习感到枯燥乏味,导致英语成绩很难得到提升。而听英文歌曲这类具有娱乐性的学习方式可以减轻初中生对英语学习的厌倦,进而增强英语学习兴趣。再者,在课堂上利用英文歌曲学习不仅活跃课堂氛围,又能提高初中生学习积极性。可见文歌曲迎合了初中生的学习心理。而就语言本身而言,英文歌曲还能让学生更好地记住歌词进而帮助学生扩展英语词汇量和丰富表达方式,也可以提高其英语听说能力,培养英语语感,养成语言逻辑思维有利于英语语法的学习,以及有助于英语语言文化的习得。因此,本论文通过探讨英文歌曲对初中生英语学习的影响,提高教师和学生对英文歌曲重要性的认识,使学生的英语学习效果得到有效的提高。

        1. Introduction
        Globalization is the inevitable trend of social development, while communication is requested for social development. As a crucial tool of communication, the significance of language is self-evident. As a consequence, English, the international language, has played an irreplaceable part for social development as well as our personal development. Since the reform and opening up, our society shows us a great demand for diplomatic talents in all fields. English songs can help students become more interested in learning English, because it caters to the junior school students’ physiology for it helps students to pick up English in an easy and entertaining way. And the music training can enhance the ability of thinking logic for students’ brains. Furthermore, there is also some good impact on learning English grammar. What’s more, enjoying English songs can also cultivate the language ability of the English-speaking countries. Therefore, the study on the influences of English songs on English learning will help junior school students to improve English in a better way.
        
        1.Literature Review
        English has been an international language for a long time, and its importance has also been reflected in schools in China. Nowadays, English has performed as a required course for junior school students. However, there are still many students feel it hard to learn English well. Therefore, there are lots of people trying to find some effective methods to learn English. And taking good use of English songs to learn English is one of the methods that people focus on.

        2.Methodology
         In order to study the influences of English songs on English learning in a more effective way, I have taken the methods of literature survey, teaching practice, questionnaire survey and survey analysis to explore ways of solving the problem on junior school English study.
        2.1Question of The Study
        Though the society is pressing for the improvement of English level, there are still plenty of students have much difficulty in learning English. And junior school students’ English learning is quite important for an English learner to lay the groundwork for the further English study. So I’m studying on the influences of English songs on junior school English learning:  
        2.2Methods of The Study
        Firstly, in order to gather more materials for this thesis writing, I have done some document retrieval by reading some pertinent journals and literatures concerning my thesis study in school library, on network database.    
        Secondly, it is necessary to do some documentary research by reading many pertinent literatures and summarizing useful information and data, it is helpful to have a clear idea of the research subject and master the related theoretical concepts.
        Finally, questionnaire survey and experiment are adopted. In order to collect more data, I use questionnaire survey (as the appendix in the end of the paper) to analyze the reaction on the influence of English songs on English study by comparing before-practice with after-practice. During the classes, I ask students to learn some English songs after school and also take good use of English songs in English class to assist to the English teaching and make the classes’ atmosphere more relaxed.
        
        3.Methodology

        4.The Influence of English Songs on Junior School English Learning
        Before the teaching practice, students don’t know how English songs can affect their English study, while after the practice they have raised the awareness on the importance of English songs by illustrating the influences on their English learning. The result of the questionnaire survey of by comparing the before-practice and after-practice proves that English songs can help students improve their English learning skills.
        4.1 Stimulating Students’ Interest in English Learning
         Listening to or singing English songs is a kind of entertainment activity, which can make students feel relaxed and happy. So when students are listening to or singing English songs instead of learning by using other traditional methods, and no matter whether they understand the lyrics or not, they will become more interested in English. With the cultural globalization, English songs are becoming more and more popular among young people including junior school students.
        As a result, it can be found that English songs can reduce the bore when learning English and make students feel easier and more willing to pick up English for it can stimulate students’ interest in English learning. In this way, it is much easier for junior school students to improve their learning efficiency.
        4.2Enlivening The Learning Atmosphere in English Classes
        The traditional ways of learning English surely has advantages, but for the most of time, it is easier to lead to a dull learning atmosphere, making students feel it bored to learn English. Then, how can students learn English well especially when they feel it too boring to acquire? As we all know that when we are listening to music we will feel relaxed and our bodies will relax, too. Therefore, when we play English songs or singing English songs in the boring English class, everybody in the classroom will feel relaxed and the more relaxed the students are the happier they will be. It makes the atmosphere in the classroom livelier. And then they will take it easy to learn English, and the English teacher will find that there are less sleepy students in the classes.
        It shows that English songs can stimulate the brains of students and make them excited in English classes, so as to enliven the learning atmosphere in English classes.
        4.3The Influence on Oral English and Listening Skill  
        When singing English songs, it is no doubt that students can practice their oral English with the help of lyrics. Learning English songs from a native speaker, you will feel like practicing speaking English with the help of a foreign teacher. It means that you are practicing oral English by following a native speaker. So singing English songs will help students to improve their English speaking skill.
        English song exerts good influence on English speaking and listening for it helps students to improve their oral English and listening skill in a happy and easy way.  
        5.    Conclusion
        In summary, with the background of globalization, English has performed as a vital communicating tool in all fields. Consequently, mastering a good knowledge of English is a vital part for living in the modern time. For junior school students, laying a good foundation for English study is essential for them, considered that English has occupied an important place in high school entrance examination.
